Privacy Policy

Slept: Sleep & App Blocker (“Slept,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is developed by Gabriel Prince. We built Slept to help you build healthier bedtime habits — and we believe your privacy is fundamental to that mission.

The short version: Your data stays on your device. We don’t collect it, we don’t sell it, and we don’t share it with anyone.

1. Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party:

• Sleep schedule preferences (bedtime and wake time)
• Sleep session records (dates, actual sleep/wake times, mood and energy ratings)
• Streak data (current streak, longest streak, total nights tracked)
• Blocked app selections (stored as anonymous tokens via Apple’s FamilyControls API — Slept never sees actual app names or identifiers)
• Wind-down activity and routine preferences
• Sound mixer presets and settings
• Unlock journal entries (reason for unlocking, optional notes)
• Badge progress and achievements
• Smart alarm settings
• Sleep quality tags
• User profile settings (schedule, lock mode, routine preferences)

If you delete the Slept app, all of this data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from your device.

2. Data Shared with Apple Services

Slept integrates with certain Apple services. These are all opt-in and can be disabled at any time:

Apple Health (HealthKit)

If you enable this integration, Slept writes sleep duration data (bedtime and wake time) to Apple Health and reads resting heart rate data from your Apple Watch. Slept only reads heart rate data — it never writes health data beyond sleep records. This is governed by Apple’s HealthKit terms and guidelines. You can revoke access at any time in your device settings.

App Store (StoreKit)

Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Slept only receives a transaction receipt confirming your subscription status. We never see or store your credit card number, Apple ID password, or any payment details.

CloudKit (Optional)

If you opt into the leaderboard feature, your chosen display name, sleep score, streak length, and selected badge are uploaded to Apple’s CloudKit. No personal information, health data, sleep times, app usage, or device identifiers are shared. You can opt out at any time.

Calendar (EventKit)

If you enable calendar access, Slept reads tomorrow’s events (read-only) to suggest an earlier bedtime when you have early commitments. Calendar data stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Screen Time API

Slept uses Apple’s Screen Time API (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) to block apps you select during your chosen bedtime hours. Apple’s API uses anonymized tokens — Slept never sees actual app names, bundle identifiers, or usage data.

3. Data We Never Collect

Slept does not collect, store, or transmit:

• Real names (unless you voluntarily set a leaderboard display name)
• Email addresses
• Phone numbers
• Location data
• Photos or camera access
• Contacts
• Browsing history
• Actual app names or usage data from blocked apps
• Advertising identifiers (there are no ads in Slept)
• Analytics or crash reports sent to third parties

4. No Third-Party Trackers

Slept contains no third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or tracking services. There is no Firebase, Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Sentry, or any third-party crash reporting embedded in the app. Your data is never sold to or shared with advertisers or any other third party.

5. Permissions

Slept may request the following permissions:

• Screen Time / Family Controls: Required for app blocking functionality.
• Notifications: For bedtime reminders, morning check-ins, streak alerts, and smart alarm.
• Apple Health: Optional — for syncing sleep data and reading heart rate.
• Calendar: Optional — for reading events to suggest earlier bedtimes.
• Background Audio: For playing sleep sounds while your phone is locked.

6. Children’s Privacy

Slept is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to address the situation.

7. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Because Slept stores all data locally on your device, you are always in full control. You can view, modify, or delete your data at any time by using the app or by deleting the app entirely. If you have opted into CloudKit (leaderboard), you can remove your data by opting out within the app.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the “Last Updated” date above. Your continued use of Slept after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
